What a sad day it was for the shooting at the Naval Yard. Having grown up in DC I am especially interested in anything that happens in that area. My brother still lives, works and visits the Pentagon and other military agencies. So when 9-11 occurred it we were all very tense until we made contact with him. It’s ironic that this shooting occurred during the National Emergency Preparedness month. But somehow I don’t believe that the shooter or shooters even knew that.
What this does remind us that we all need to be prepared at all times for all situations. The folks in Boulder Colorado never expected to have such floods, nor did New Jersey expect Hurricane Sandy to change the shore forever. Today, this week, this year has been a sober reminder that it maybe too late to be prepared but it is never too early to start. It just takes a few minutes a day.
